Verified Farm Evidence

Field photos connected to their capture record.

Photos taken in HeriShamba record when, where and on which registered device they were captured. HeritageIQ checks that the stored original is exactly what the phone captured, then places it on the farm record.

The problem

A photo on its own proves very little.

A picture forwarded on a messaging app has lost its time and place. It could have been taken on another farm, in another year, or edited on the way.

Buyers and auditors increasingly discount evidence that cannot be tied to a farm, a date and a person.

What "verified" means here

Checks on how the evidence was captured and kept.

Each of these checks is made by the system, every time.

Camera only

Taken in the app

Evidence comes from the HeriShamba camera. Gallery uploads are not accepted as verified captures.

Who and which phone

Registered user and device

The capture is linked to the signed-in farm user and a registered, active device for that farm.

When and where

Time and GPS at capture

Capture time and, where available, GPS position and accuracy are recorded on the phone.

Fingerprint

SHA-256 on both ends

The phone fingerprints the photo. HeritageIQ recomputes it on the stored original and rejects any mismatch.

Inside the boundary?

Checked against the farm

If the farm has an accepted boundary for that date, HeritageIQ records whether the photo was taken inside or outside it.

Permanent

Cannot be edited later

Once accepted, the evidence record and original cannot be changed or replaced.

Workflow

From shutter to farm record.

  1. Take the photo in HeriShamba

Of a delivery, a field operation, or the farm itself, optionally linked to a harvest.

  2. Stored and queued on the phone

The original, its fingerprint, time and location are saved offline.

  3. Uploaded and checked

On sync, HeritageIQ checks the file, the fingerprint, the user and the device before accepting it.

  4. Linked to the farm or harvest

The accepted evidence appears on the farm record and can support a lot's Passport.

Who it serves

Useful on both sides of a sale

  • Farms showing their practices and harvests
  • Cooperatives and estates documenting member farms
  • Exporters assembling evidence for buyers
  • Buyers and auditors reviewing supplier records

Practical value

Evidence people can rely on

  • Photos tied to a farm, date, place and person
  • Tampering or swapping of files is detectable
  • Evidence sits with the harvest it belongs to
  • Less time chasing photos before a buyer visit

Good to know

Integrity is not the same as inspection.

  • These checks show how and where a photo was captured and that it has not changed. They do not prove that what the photo appears to show is true.
  • A verified capture is not a certification or a third-party audit. It can support those processes.

We will walk you through a demo farm, a sample lot and its Passport, then scope a pilot around one of your own farms or lots.
